    07:56 29 Oct 2015

Armenian film maker Artavazd Peleshyan was presented with a prize for his contribution to the world cinematography at the ceremonial opening of the Ji.hlava international documentary film festival today.

The Ji.hlava festival, which is the biggest event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, runs through November 1.

Peleshyan's work oscillates on the border between feature, avant-garde and documentary film.

“In his work, Peleshyan succeeds in conveying the essence of life in a few minutes, and in a way that has forever entered the history of cinematography,” the festival director Marek Hovorka said on the eve of the festival on Monday.

The Ji.hlava festival will offer over 250 films, including 58 world, nine international and 11 European premieres.
